YOUTH EMPOWERMENT PROGRAMS

“Knowing we can be loved exactly as we are gives us all the best opportunity for growing into the healthiest of people.”
— Fred Rogers

Through educational play, we confront some of the biggest challenges and stereotypes that children and teens face growing up as a boy or girl that are not addressed in their academic curriculum.

These programs offer a place for children to process their experiences and feelings with peers through discussion and activities. We are anti-bullying, anti-drugs, and anti-cruelty.

Programs have been delivered to schools, public libraries, non-profits, and the Girl Scouts.

90 minute programs. Ages 7+. Materials supplied.

Teacher Training for girls empowerment programs are available upon request!

Community Response:

I have worked with Danielle in two different libraries, where she has offered her boys’ and girls’ empowerment workshops. These programs consistently receive very positive feedback from the participants and their parents and caregivers. Best of all is the fun that I can see the kids having during the workshops; Danielle knows how to choose appropriate, educational activities that are engaging while still supporting the mission of the events. I still cannot believe how excited our boys were for this summer’s “Be Your Own Superhero” workshop! Many of them still mention it when they return to the library. I would highly recommend Danielle’s programs to other libraries; she is easy to work with, and the message behind her offerings is so important.

Danielle Craig’s Empowerment Workshops are equally knowledgeable and creative. After participating in two of her programs, I noticed early on that Danielle challenges her attendees to not only create something that can inspire them to look forward, but also to find ways of achieving their goals. Her workshops are conversational in nature, especially with a smaller group, and she engages teens to build on their knowledge through well-researched facts and conclusions. The activities she has the groups do are purposeful and creative. I would highly recommend Danielle’s workshops for youth who are trying to find the right encouragement to do something incredible with their lives.

Danielle Craig facilitated an empowerment group with our female group home on body image, media influences, and self- esteem issues. The conversation was very in-depth and allowed the girls to openly discuss the root of their insecurities and how the media influences how other males and females see them. As an activity the girls were given magazines to create a vision board to describe their own personal strengths and goals. Overall, the girls left feeling empowered and able to freely be themselves with each other and in the world around them.

“We have offered this program twice and both times the positive feedback we received from the girls as well as their parents was overwhelming. With media bombarding all of us with images of men and women that are impossible to live up to, Danielle Craig encourages girls to believe in themselves and love who they are, not what the media has them believe they should be.”
— Jennifer Mae Smith, Head of Children's Services, Suffern Free Library
Danielle Craig did two different empowerment workshops for our agency, Children’s Aid and Family Services, one with our male group home and one with our female group homes. The boys empowerment workshop had a Superhero theme and utilized vision boards. It was great to be part of the group and watch the normally quiet adolescent males participate enthusiastically and enjoy her group. It was both empowering and enlightening for the boys to be part of this group and hopefully gave them new ways to open up their views and ways of thinking.

Spring Lake Library hosted a group of 21 fifth grade girls for Danielle Craig’s program, Compassionate Leadership for Girls. Danielle was extremely efficient and organized setting up the space for the program, and she was a warm presence as she greeted each girl when they arrived. The group was fully engaged through the talking part of the program, where Danielle expressed ideas and concepts designed to encourage feelings of self-worth and to draw out their own personal experiences. After getting comfortable together, they moved on to expressing themselves by acting skits. This event was enjoyed by all, and we would definitely plan to have Danielle for another program in the future.

Danielle Craig is a skilled discussion leader on the topics of gender roles, societal gender pressures, and feminism in modern society. Taking her Sexist Body Image in Advertising Virtual Program made me ask questions about why I allow society and media to dictate the way that I feel about myself and why females are viewed in a singular light. She helped me to realize that I and all of the women in my life have so much more to offer and that I want to help create a world where we are encouraged to do so.
— Stephanie Albuquerque, Project Hope Alliance, Orange County, California
It was fabulous. More time or another virtual class on this topic would be great. It is a very powerful topic and I was impressed to the girls’ mature responses to how they saw these images. I viewed the class with my daughter. It was a great class. Thank you so much for this great topic.

Danielle Craig’s empowerment session on Body Image was a unique experience for our children with craniofacial conditions, from young age group to teenagers. Danielle’s creative approach and her deep understanding of the dynamics across different age groups and personalities, made this program very engaging, inclusive and motivating. It was amazing to witness the transformation and how, in the course of 2 hours, all children even the shyest ones engaged in discussions, created their own statements and narratives, shared their experiences, offered new topics, exchanged solutions to challenges and surprised themselves! We are looking forward to our future sessions with Danielle.
